Dear COP participants,
COP24 is fast approaching!
As Plenipotentiary of the Minister of the Environment for the Organisation of COP24, I am pleased to let you know how excited I am to be leading the organization of such a rewarding – and significant – global event, one that I am certain will advance climate change negotiations towards the successful delivery of the Paris Agreement Work Programme.
Please rest assured that my team and I are working very hard to produce a safe, exciting and meaningful conference venue, one where you will feel at home and have everything you need to engage in deliberations as well as climate action.
Many of you have asked us about our plans for local transportation during COP24. As previously announced, the city of Katowice will be providing public transportation free of charge within city limits. Very soon I expect to announce specifics of a special transportation service which we will provide to hubs around major hotels, so that you are well connected by land and able to move back and forth between the conference venue and your hotels with ease.
Regarding pavilions and office spaces to be rented on a commercial basis, we are still in the process of selecting the general contractor, and by the end of August I hope to be able to offer you these prices and instructions on how to apply. Meanwhile, initial requests can be sent to cop24 @ mos.gov.pl.
I am looking forward to welcoming you to COP24 in the transformative city of Katowice.
Plenipotentiary of the Minister of the Environment for the Organisation of COP24
