Meeting in Katowice on COP24

On 3 March, 2017, delegation of the Ministry of Environment held the meeting with the Deputy Mayor of Katowice, Mariusz Skiba, and the representatives of the City Office of Katowice. The issues brought up during the meeting was the potential cooperation in organisation of the 24th session of the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP24).

Katowice presented itself as the creative city (included in the list of UNESCO world heritage), of high human potential and successes in organisation of national-scale and international mass events.  

“The Katowice Region has been recently transformed in a manner comparable with the Ruhr District which translates into changes in quality of air and environmental protection. In addition, Katowice is the third greenest city in Poland, since as much as 40% of its area is covered by forests” – said Mariusz Skiba.

The city authorities declared accommodation capacity of 18 thousand participants of COP24 and available air connections.
