In 2018, Poland will host the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UN FCCC). Organisation of the COP24 summit is a great logistical, organisational and technical challenge and therefore selection of adequate host city is of priority. The city organising the COP in 2018 will be kept in the international records of climate policy for ages.
Gdansk, Gdynia and Sopot refer to their successes in environmental protection. Katowice focus on the new approach to coal and its roal in sustainable mining.
Final selection of the host city will include such criteria as accommodation and conference base and transport connections, including air transport.
Final decision will be made by the UN FCCC Secretariat in cooperation with the Ministry of Environment. Voting on the host city of the UN Climate Summit will be held in the next December.
