COP24 Katowice

The UN Delegates visited Katowice on the organisation of COP24

The United Nations representatives assessed Katowice capacity as the host city of the 2018 UN Climate Summit. The meetings with the city authorities were held on 5 April 2017.

The representatives of technical mission of the UNFCCC Secretariat for the organisation of the 24th session of the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP24)  in the Polish City of Katowice visited among others the International Congress Centre, Silesian Museum, Spodek Hall, University of Silesia, Scientific Information Centre and Academic Library, Polish National Radio Symphony Orchestra, Silesian Stadium, airport and the Upper Silesian Industrial Park.

Katowice ensure that the city has both well-developed infrastructure and comprehensive experience in organising large-scale and international events.

The final selection of the host city will include such criteria as among others accommodation and conference base and transport connections, including air transport.
